Welcome to ImportXML.com. Our mission is to simplify accounting workflows for businesses and professionals across India by providing free, reliable, and completely private tools to convert Excel data into Tally-compatible XML files.

Our Story

ImportXML.com was started by a small team of accountants and developers who were tired of the same problem: clients would send over Excel sheets with hundreds of purchase or sales entries, and someone had to sit there and type every single voucher into Tally Prime by hand. One by one. For hours.

Tally does support XML import natively — it's been there since Tally ERP 9. But building a properly formatted XML from scratch, with the right tags, escaped special characters, correct debit/credit logic, and per-row tax handling, is genuinely difficult unless you've studied Tally's XML specification. Most accountants haven't. Neither should they have to.

We built the first version of the Purchase XML Converter for our own use. It was a rough tool — no UI, just a script. But it worked, and it cut a 3-hour data entry session down to about 4 minutes. We cleaned it up, added the Sales and Bank Statement converters, and put it online for anyone to use. That was mid-2026. The response from accountants and small business owners has been overwhelming — which tells us we weren't the only ones sitting there manually entering invoices into Tally.

Who We Are

We are based in India and our tools are designed specifically for Indian accountants working with Tally Prime and Tally ERP 9. We understand the GST ledger structure, the financial year April-to-March calendar, the way party names work across different client companies, and the specific errors Tally throws when something isn't right. That context shapes every feature we build.

Why We Built This

Data entry into Tally ERP 9 and Tally Prime can be an incredibly tedious and error-prone process. While Tally supports XML import natively, constructing a perfectly formatted XML file from Excel registers is difficult for most users without programming knowledge.

Many existing solutions are either expensive paid software, require you to upload your sensitive financial data to third-party servers, or are cumbersome Excel macros that break frequently. We wanted to build a modern alternative.
